PM Portfolio: Process Documentation

Process documentation in a portfolio shows that you can translate your work into something reusable — a key signal for senior roles and teams that have scaled past informal knowledge sharing.

What makes good process documentation

Good process docs are written for the reader who didn't see the original problem. They explain why the process exists, not just how to follow it. They include decision rules, not just steps.

What to include in your portfolio

Choose one process you designed or significantly improved. Document it in your preferred tool (Notion, Confluence, etc.), redact anything confidential, and share a link. Include a brief note explaining what problem it solved and what you changed from the previous state.

Demonstrate tool literacy through the doc itself

The tool you use to write the documentation is itself a signal. A clean, well-structured Notion doc shows you know how to use Notion. An over-engineered Confluence space with 20 nested pages signals something else.
