PM Portfolio: Tool Onboarding Plan

Rolling out a tool to a team is a project management and change management challenge, not just a configuration task. A portfolio piece about a rollout you led shows execution skills and the human side of your PM work.

What to document

Describe the rollout in three phases: pre-launch (stakeholder alignment, setup, training plan), launch (pilot, feedback loop, iteration), and post-launch (adoption measurement, edge cases, what you'd change). Brief is fine — this is a portfolio piece, not a project post-mortem.

Highlight the friction you managed

The most credible rollout stories include the resistance you encountered and how you handled it. "The design team didn't want to leave Zeplin" is more interesting than "everyone adopted the tool immediately."

Measure adoption, not just completion

A rollout is only successful when people are actively using the tool. Adoption rate after 30 and 90 days is a better measure than "everyone was onboarded." Include this in your portfolio if you tracked it.
