Jira + Twilio Integration

Connecting Jira (project management) and Twilio (communication) reduces the gap between project management and communication in your team's daily workflow. There's no native connector, but both tools work with Zapier and Make — the workflow below covers the fastest path.

Via automation platform

No direct native connector between Jira and Twilio, but both tools support Zapier and Make. Most PM workflows can be replicated with a few zaps.

What teams use this integration for

Get Jira alerts in Twilio

Route Jira notifications — new assignments, status changes, overdue tasks, and sprint start/end — directly into Twilio channels. Teams reduce email load and keep async updates flowing without switching apps.

Create tasks from messages

Turn Twilio messages into Jira tasks without leaving the conversation. Via Zapier, trigger task creation from starred messages or specific keywords.

Sync status automatically

When work progresses in Jira, reflect that change in Twilio automatically — reducing manual status updates and keeping stakeholders informed without extra effort.

Centralise team notifications

Route Jira activity — new comments, assignments, and status changes — into Twilio so your team stays informed in the tool they already have open.

How to set it up

  1. In Jira settings, check the Integrations section for a direct Twilio connector (Jira supports 20+ native integrations — Twilio may be listed).
  2. If no native connector exists, open Zapier or Make and search for both Jira and Twilio. Both tools are likely available as triggers and actions.
  3. Choose your trigger: a common starting point is "New task in Jira" triggering an action in Twilio, or vice versa. Start with one automation before building a full workflow.
  4. Connect and authorise both accounts in the automation platform. Use accounts with the right workspace permissions — read access isn't enough for write actions.
  5. Run a test with a live item. Check that data maps correctly (task titles, assignees, due dates) and adjust field mappings before activating for the team.
